We all need somewhere that we can call home - a place that we can live out our daily lives and somewhere to put our treasured belongings. For some of us this is easier to obtain and keep than others. If you are having difficulties with your landlord, face homelessness or legal proceedings which relate to your home, we can help provide you with support and legal advice.

Margaret Dodson a solicitor and director of this firm has considerable experience dealing with complex housing issues. She is regularly referred work from the Citizen Advice Bureau and has a keen interest in assisting and supporting tenants that are facing homelessness.

We have listed below some of the most common areas of housing law that we provide advice on

  • Possession proceedings – i.e when a landlord seeks to evict a tenant;
  • Assisting people who are made homeless;
  • Resolving issues relating to disrepair and condition of a property;
  • Anti-Social Behaviour Injunctions;
  • Harassment claims;
  • Disputes over the tenancy agreement;
  • General advice on tenancy rights.
  • Issues involving rent arrears;
  • Issues related to the Mobile Homes Act 1983;
  • Setting a side a legal charge;
  • Personal Injury;
  • Disability and sex discrimination;
  • Professional negligence actions relating to the handling of a housing claim;
  • Issues relating to Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.

Housing Legal Aid

For clients that find themselves not in a position to pay for legal assistance, we are able to offer our services on a legal aid basis. This means that if found eligible, clients may be able to have their legal fees paid for by the government. Legal aid particularly applies to individuals who are currently in receipt of benefits from the government or are on a low income.

To find out if you are eligible for legal aid please telephone our office on 01256 322911 to make a free appointment with one of our solicitors.
